1. Jesus’ arrival represents a challenge to worldly power and self-interest.
2. Jesus calls His followers to choose sides, leading to division and difficulty.
3. We need to embrace our identity as chosen by God, despite the world’s hostility.
Questions to think about
1. ‘You can’t be neutral / on the fence about Jesus. Ultimately, you have to make a choice to accept or reject him.’ Do you agree? Why / why not?
2. Simeon said Jesus would reveal the thoughts of many hearts. How has following Jesus revealed truths about your own heart or life?
3. How can we respond to the world’s rejection while staying faithful to Jesus’ call?
